It is Time We Stop Lying to Ourselves 3

Let us finish today with the dreaded workout program outline.

All workouts should start right out of bed. This gets your body burning fat right away and will continue throughout your day. (This is An Option) Believe or not but a cup of hot coffee or tea help kick starts the whole process. Raising the thermal levels and getting heart rate up quickly. Check with your Doctor before starting any workout program. Be careful and stay safe.

Beginners: Start out slow and easy. Begin with walking every other day. Distance is determined by how much you can do without stressing you body. Once you feel comfortable extend your distance and try to pick up your pace. Stationary Bike, an elliptical style machine is another great workout for beginners, especially ones with back knees or backs.

Intermediates: If you are at this level I would be telling you what you already know. So review we me Ok. Cardiovascular= Fat Burning.

1) Which ones are the best cardiovascular exercises for fat loss?

A) Running, Any type of Aerobic, Stair Stepper, Rowing, and one of the eases on the whole body Swimming.

2) When cardiovascular exercises are most effective.

B) When you do it, just kidding. Your stomach should be empty. Drinking about 16 to 24 oz of water will help prevent dehydration. (This is A Option) Don't forget that one cup of hot coffee or tea. The empty stomach gives that fat burning a jump start.

3) How much is necessary to lose body fat without compromising lean muscle mass gains.

C) About 20 minutes to warm up... 30 minutes with your heart rate at Fat burning zone=220-(Your Age) x (.75) this is your beat per minute. Then cool down slowly.

This is a basic outline of a normal workout that an intermediate level would do. I am sure you could add a lot more exercises.

Expert: You should be teaching us. Enough said. If you are here it must be a slow day for you. :)

If you put your mind to it and follow the meals plan. Then add a workout program you will lose weight. I hope you are sick and tired of being sick and tired.

It is Time We Stop Lying to Ourselves 2

Today, let's breakdown the four food categories in a shopping list.

1) Proteins:
A) Fish is the best protein source. It should be baked, steamed, grilled, skewered, and broiled.
No butter, oils or products containing salt or diary. Shrimp, Scallops, crab and lobster would be included in this group.
B) Chicken and Turkey breast is the second best source for protein. Egg whites are included in this group only. Chicken broth with no salt added is allowed, but you should make your own.
C) Beef, lamb and Pork should be used only once a day. They are the hardest for the body to burn off quickly. Use the lean cuts with no or very little fat. Beef broth is allowed with nsa but you should make your own.

2) Vegetables:
A) Free food but try to eat them with your meals. Yes tomato sauce is okay nsa (no salt added)

3) Carbohydrates:
A) Potatoes, Rice, Rice noodles, Parsnips, Yams, Jicama, Turnips, Sweet Potato, Rutabagas, Squash, Barley, and Millet. These foods are eaten at every meal in small portions but not at breakfast. Oatmeal is the wild card of this group. It is good for all meals and very multi-purpose. You eat it as Oatmeal cereal, use it as a coating, and grind it up to use as a flour.

4) Fruits:
A) Pears, Plums, Grapefruit, Papaya, Berries, honeydew, Peaches, Cantaloupe, Pineapple, Apples, Strawberries, and bananas. Now these are natures sweet and should treated as a reward. Don't over do it. They will hurt your weight loss.

The shopping list and has alot of choices. If you are a good cook and know how to use spices, the rest is easy. For those of us who have to learn the path, it is a little harder. Look down the road. If you learn to build your eating around the food groups, the weight loss will be reached.

Now for the portion sizes. Fish and chicken group can be 4-5 oz each meal. Beef and Pork group can be 3-4 oz for the last meal before the bedtime snack. Keep your carbohydrates to 1/2 cup per meal. Veggies are free but try to keep them under 2 cups. That is a lot of veggies. You can have fruit with your 1st meal and snack.

Fast food, junk food, and sugar drinks should be like your fat life... gone. Process sugar is a killer. Splenda is a great substitute. Drink lots of water. It is good for you. You can drink coffee and tea without sugar(use splenda) or cream, cream substitute.

Meals: 1 st meal can be a protein-carb-fruit, second protein-carb, third protein-carb-veggie, four protein-carb, fifth protein-carb-veggie, and last fruit. Meals should be eaten every 2 1/2 to 3 hours apart. You should never eat just before bedtime that is just like rubbing fat on your body.

That is enough for now tomorrow will talk about workouts. Go to this Website

It is Time We Stop Lying to Ourselves

Many of us have been on a lot of diets. From the next great weight loss pills to the latest can't miss diet food plan. If they had worked, we wouldn't be here now. The one missing piece of the weight loss plan was our mental commitment. That is right. I am saying we choose to be FAT. If we use that lame excuse that we have a disease, we deserve to be FAT and unhealthy. Once we admit to ourselves that we control our bodies then things will change.

Dieting is EASY... eat less , workout more, right? Not quite . The human body is like a fine tune engine . If you put the right fuel in, it runs like a Swiss watch. If you put in the wrong fuel, it will become clogged and blows up. What a Metaphor.

Your food should consist of four food categories.
  1. Proteins (Fish, Chicken, Turkey, Beef, Pork, Lamb)
  2. Vegetables (We will classify this as free food)
  3. Carbohydrates (Potato, Rice, beans...)
  4. Fruits (Nature's sweets)
That is the list and there is a proper way to use them. Eat smaller portions and more meals about every three hours. This gives your body a chance to burn off the food and not store it as FAT. Along with your meal, drink more water. It is important to flush your system. Salt, salt substitute, sea salt, any kind of salt is a no no. Salt causes your body to retain fluids and kills your weight loss progress. Learn to use Spices.

Tomorrow, we will continue with this but for now check out this Website

Fitness Over 40

As you approach forty years of age and beyond the importance of exercise becomes even greater then when you were younger. Your body isn’t what it used to be and if you want to slow the aging process and live a longer healthier life then exercise is the way to go. Being forty or older is not the end of the world. If you start exercising, eating right and taking care of yourself now chances are you will live a long and fruitful life. If you discount this advice then consider this.

People who do a minimum amount of physical exercise and smoke or have high blood pressure have a lower death rate then people who do nothing. That’s right, as you get older, the less physical activity you do the greater your chances of having serious health issues and dying at a younger are. The more fit you are as you age the greater the benefit to your overall health and longevity.

Why is fitness when you are over 40 so important? Because research has shown that people who do not exercise are more at risk for heart disease. In fact, not exercising ranks right up there with smoking, high blood pressure and bad cholesterol as a major cause of heart disease. Going for a walk every day or even 3-4 times a week will significantly decrease your chances of heart disease. The important thing is that you get out and do some form of exercise. It doesn’t have to be a workout that lasts for hours either. Studies have shown how many exercise frequency is more important than how long you exercise.

As we age we begin to lose muscle mass, bone density, and strength. Exercise in general and resistance exercises, such as weight bearing exercise, in particular are great for slowing these loses.

Of particular importance is osteoporosis or loss of bone density, in women over the age of 40 because their estrogen levels are lower as they approach menopause. Although women are more susceptible to osteoporosis, men also need to be aware of its affects and take the proper preventative measures and nothing is better at preventing the loss of bone density than exercise.

So being fit and over 40 is like the fountain of youth. We all know that exercise is good for us, but the hard part for a lot of people is actually getting into that mindset and doing some sort of exercise program. We can come up with all the excuses in the world why not to exercise but the fact remains that following some sort of exercise program as we age can slow down that process and allow us to live longer and healthier lives. So join the fitness over 40 crowd and see how much younger you can feel.

Are Weight Loss Pills Safe

The weight loss industry is currently awash with slimming products that make wild and spurious claims to be the best or cheapest on the open market. Unlike prescribed slimming pills, non prescription or “over the counter” products do not need to undergo the same rigorous testing and standardizing procedures and so manufacturers along with the retailers are keen to get the products out to market with minimal clinical evidence and sell on the strength of “cheap” rather than “proven” via clever marketing and advertising. The market is volume driven with the emphasis on quantity rather than quality.

Who Buys Slimming Pills.

Slimming tablets, supplements or pills are sold to desperate consumers eager to control their weight, the majority of the industry understands this and so their message appeals. Fast and Rapid are words that are often used to sell. “Rapid” and “Weight Loss” should not appear in the same sentence. The weight loss pill industry is huge. Currently, in the United States alone it is worth over sixty billion dollars ($60 billion) with over 10% of the products sold either fraudulent or harmful.

What Are The Types Of Weight Loss Pills.

Possibly the best known weight loss supplement available to buy today is Hoodia. Hoodia is a natural ingredient that comes from a cactus like plant that grows in desert like conditions of South Africa.Hoodia contains a chemical called P57. P57 is an extremely powerful and effective substance that acts as an appetite suppressant. The problem with Hoodia is that it also contains a dozen other chemicals that are of no use in fight for weight loss. The process for extracting the P57 from Hoodia (Gordonii) takes over 5 years, this is costly and time consuming. In recent times Hoodia rather than P57 has become synonymous with weight loss and so an estimated 80% Hoodia branded slimming products contain no trace of P57. So in effect consumers are buying Hoodia related products without any appetite suppressing substance.

Other appetite suppressants such as Ephedra and Phentermine can be purchased over the counter but both have negative side effects.

Ephedra can cause both physical and mental damage to the consumer. It is an amphetamine-like compound that stimulates the central nervous system, misuse can lead to life threatening consequences. The FDA has issued several warnings about the use of Ephedra as diet product. Phentermine is usually a prescribed medication for the clinically obese, although this can be bought over the counter advised use is short term and under strict medical supervision. Although the potential side affects are mild they are very real; blurred vision, dry mouth, sleeplessness, irritability, chest pain and palpitations.

Fat burning and blocking supplements have very little evidence surrounding them to suggest that they can be effective as a slimming aid.

Fat burners; Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a fatty acid produced by bacteria found in the stomachs of livestock type animals (cows and sheep) as well as certain types of plants such as sunflowers and safflowers albeit in smaller quantities. At present it is not clinically proven that CLA is effective as a weight reducing product. Initial studies have shown very little conclusive proof. However studies have shown that expectant mothers or mothers that are breast feeing should avoid this type of supplement.

Fat blockers; there have been some hysteria surrounding Chitosan – a fibre extracted from shellfish. Outrageous claims have been made but most of the studies have been carried out on animals and as yet it is unproven on humans. In conclusion both fat burners and fat blockers have no scientific or medical evidence that they work and have no long term side effects. This is also an expensive choice.

Prescribed Weight Loss Pills. Xenical (Orlistat) are mostly used for clinical obesity and cannot be purchased legally over the counter. A consultation with a doctor or GP is required. Xenical binds with dietary fat and stops them being absorbed into the body. Although this is a proven method for losing weight doctors are often only to prescribe to the obese, meaning that the slightly overweight are often denied the medication.

Over The Counter Fat Binders. Fat binding is possibly the most effective way to combat obesity and control weight. Although relatively new to the market – a product called Proactol has been given medical backing, approval and is now a certified medical product (MDD 93/42/EEC) and is manufactured in accordance to EN ISO 13485:2003 standards.

Proactol is a 100% herbal product and unlike Hoodia has a standard attached to it. So consumers can be confident that they are buying and administering something that contains the weight reducing element.

It is important to remember that for the advantages a pill, tablet or supplement can give, for absolute success in achieving weight loss targets a healthy diet and exercise is also required.

The Benefits Of A Weight Loss Fitness Program

Healthy weight loss is the result of good health and fitness. Therefore a good weight loss fitness program can be extremely helpful in restoring normal weight. Most people are aware that exercise assists weight loss by burning calories, but other important benefits are less known.

A weight loss fitness program involving daily aerobic exercise causes glucose in the body to be processed more quickly, lowering blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels and poor insulin function have been directly linked to obesity. Exercise, therefore, lowers the risk of becoming obese. The intensity of the exercise is more important than its duration. The more intense the exercise, the faster the body will use the blood sugar. Intensity of exercise should be gradually increased to avoid hypoglycemia. If you have weight problems, only use low impact aerobic exercises.

Exercise will certainly help with weight loss, but it is not the only factor. If you want to lose weight, you must eat a healthy, natural low calorie diet. An effective weight loss fitness program will include a low sugar, low fat, natural diet, plenty of rest and adequate amounts of pure water. If health and fitness is a primary goal, weight loss will be a primary benefit.

A good weight loss fitness program encourages both weight loss and general fitness which has the advantage of improving a person’s quality of life in many ways. A program that works for you and that you will commit to is more important than an intensive program that requires radical changes and that you will drop after a couple of weeks.

A regular disciplined diet and exercise routine that aims to improve your health over time is gentler and more likely to be successful. Change is progressive. The first step to good health and a healthy weight is to make the decision to improve your lifestyle. Start the journey and stay with it. If you do that, your health will improve and so will your life.

Is There a Magical Weight Loss Cure?

First, let us accept it. There is no magical weight loss cure, except the one that is time tested and effective, which is a proper healthy lifestyle with suitable diet and exercise. Instant weight loss programs, magical alternative medicine, low-carbohydrate, low-fat or low-calorie diets, the use of a plethora of tools and appliances that work on the various fatty parts of your body and so on, may all work to a certain extent, for a short term. But they fail to bring about a permanent weight loss. Besides, they may almost always produce avoidable side effects.

Obese people all over the world are searching in vain for a magical formula for a quick weight loss, without effort and without giving up their favorite foods. The weight loss product market is booming. Books giving advice on promising ways to reduce weight are being sold like hot cakes. ‘New’ techniques, methods, strategies, drugs, diets, herbal medicines and so on are aggressively promoted through advertisements in the media. Quite often, they claim the support of scientific research, giving facts and figures to prove their case. Being desperate to get a magical remedy for weight loss, most people empty their purses in the belief that this time it will work. It simply does not work, not for long in any case. So people keep shifting their loyalties from one weight loss product to another new weight loss product, only to discover in the end that their purses are getting leaner while their bodies continue to get fatter and weightier. Even if they lose some weight initially, they see it return with a vengeance, as soon as they stop using that particular weight loss product.

Next to tobacco, obesity and diseases caused by obesity are probably the most common cause of unnatural death. These deaths can however be prevented if obesity has an easy solution. These days, when technological advances have freed man from hard physical labor, no one wants to expend energy to lose weight. Also, at the same time, no one wants sincerely to give up on consuming all those processed foods, alcohol and sugary carbonated drinks and ice creams and other weight-increasing products. Everyone who is overweight wants to lose weight and live long, which is quite natural. But they want an easy solution to their weight problem, something like a magic switch that changes one into zero - that too with a remote operation.

There is only one effective long-term weight loss remedy and that is the tried and tested regular physical exercise coupled with appropriate balanced diet. If you are not accustomed to the recommended regimen, you may have to make suitable lifestyle changes. Depending upon your age and the condition of your physical health, you will have to select the type of physical exercise that is suitable to you. Your weight loss may be rather slow in coming, but what is more important than weight loss perhaps is consuming a diet that gives you all the necessary nutrients and maintaining a fit body for a healthy living.

Understanding Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) Can Help With Weight Loss

Not everyone is familiar with the term Basal Metabolic Rate, and how it can affect dieting. A sensible approach to weight loss will focus on eating a balanced diet along with a regular exercise program. The correct adjustments to the tandem of diet and exercise will allow an individual to reach a desired weight range and maintain a healthy body.

However, in order to determine and implement the proper adjustments to both caloric intake, and daily exercise, we must have some standard to measure our adjustments against. An important part of that standard would be our BMR (basal metabolic rate). Our BMR represents the base rate at which our body consumes calories. These calories are used for basic metabolic functions such as maintaining internal body temperature, repair of cells, the pumping of our blood, the powering of our muscles at rest, etc.

We must understand and accept the basic principle of weight loss which is that the number of calories consumed must be less than the number of calories expended. Any excess calories that we consume that are not expended will only be stored in adipose tissue as fat.

Every individual's BMR will be slightly different, the average being about 70 calories burned per hour. This number will be slightly higher when we're awake, and slightly less when we are asleep.

Here are some additional factors that affect our Basal Metabolic Rate:

Our internal body temperature plays a big role in influencing our BMR. Every 1/2 degree (Celsius) rise in our body temperature will result in an increase to our BMR of about 7%. A good, but extreme case example would be when we have a fever. Under these circumstances, should you have a fever that raises your internal body temperature by 7 degrees above normal, your metabolic rate will increase up to 50%.

On the other hand, some medications such as anti-depressants will reduce our bodies BMR resulting in weight gain. Anyone dieting for weight loss along with an exercise program should consult with their physician regarding the impact any prescribed medicines may have on their diet.

An injury can temporarily change our BMR while the body is busy using essential fatty acids and proteins to repair itself, and create new tissue. While we understand that raising our Basal Metabolic Rate can be beneficial for weight loss, we don't want to either come down with a fever, or injure ourselves just to accomplish this.

Eating too many high-fat foods, or foods with refined sugars will reduce our BMR because both types of food are low in fiber and bulk. This slows down our intestinal activity causing the body to absorb more calories from these foods before passing them through the digestive system. This is where eating a balanced, nutritionally sound diet will help regulate our BMR, and in doing so, maintain the efficiency of our digestive system.

Genetics, and general physiological factors play the largest role in determining our BMR. When striving to lose weight it is helpful to know our Basal Metabolic Rate. This knowledge will help you determine just what is needed to raise it (in the form of diet and exercise) enough to help supplement your weight loss program, and achieve your desired goals.
